Still Here: The Leadership Nobody Talks About

Still Here: The Leadership Nobody Talks About

Still Here: The Leadership Nobody Talks About

Nobody puts this on a conference stage.

Nobody builds a keynote around it. Nobody writes the LinkedIn post that says: *I almost quit last Tuesday. I sat in my car for twenty minutes before I could walk into the building.*

But that's leadership too. That's actually the most important kind.

The Performance We Demand

We've built a culture around leadership performance. The polished talk. The confident vision. The unwavering certainty.

And leaders have learned to perform it — even when the performance is a lie.

I've coached executives who were one bad quarter away from a breakdown. CEOs who hadn't slept properly in months. Founders who were publicly celebrating milestones while privately questioning everything.

The performance was perfect. The person behind it was fracturing.

What Resilience Actually Looks Like

I made a film called *Still Here*. It was about survival — not the triumphant kind, but the quiet, unglamorous kind. The kind that looks like getting up when you don't want to. Staying when leaving would be easier. Believing when the evidence is against you.

That's not weakness. That's the deepest form of leadership strength.

Resilience isn't the absence of doubt. It's the decision to move forward *with* the doubt. To lead *through* the uncertainty rather than waiting for it to resolve.

The leaders I most respect aren't the ones who never struggled. They're the ones who struggled and stayed.

The Permission You Need to Give Yourself

If you're in a hard season right now — if you're leading through something that's costing you more than anyone knows — I want to say something directly:

You don't have to perform your way through this.

You're allowed to acknowledge that it's hard. You're allowed to ask for help. You're allowed to be a human being who is carrying something heavy, and still be a great leader.

In fact, the leaders who give themselves that permission are almost always the ones who build the most loyal, high-performing teams. Because when you're honest about your own humanity, you create space for your team to be human too.

And teams of humans — real, honest, connected humans — outperform teams of performers every single time.

Still Here

I don't know what you're carrying right now. But I know that if you're still showing up — still trying, still leading, still believing even when it's hard — that matters.

That's not nothing. That's everything.

Stay in it. The work you're doing in the hard seasons is the work that shapes who you become.

And who you become is the leader your team needs.
